Day 1

Brisbane – Rainbow Beach

Once you’ve collected your vehicle you will journey north along the Bruce Highway towards Sunshine Coast, venturing past the towering Glasshouse Mountains and the Steve Irwin Way. Soon you’ll reach the outskirts of Gympie, where you’ll then follow the signs for Rainbow Beach.

Days 2-3

Rainbow Beach

Rainbow Beach will be your base for the next two days. There’s plenty to do here, including marvelling at the secluded beaches, exploring the national parks and enjoying a few water sports.

Days 4 - 5

Hervey Bay

On day four you will drive to Hervey Bay, known as the jewel in Queensland’s crown and also well-known for its brilliant whale watching opportunities – thousands of humpback whales migrate here from June to November. You’ll then have time to enjoy the area, visiting the scenic piers, dipping in and out of cafes, or enjoying leisurely water sports including kayaking, snorkelling and game fishing.

Days 6-7

Fraser Island

Today you will pick up your 4WD vehicle and drive to River Heads, where you’ll board a 50 minute ferry ride to Fraser Island – the world’s largest sand island. The afternoon is free for you to explore this stunning area, home to a 75 mile beach, unbelievably clear waters, over 100 freshwater lakes, and luxuriant rainforest.

Days 8 - 10

Noosa

On day eight you will return back to Hervey Bay by ferry and drop off your 4WD vehicle, before journeying south to the Sunshine Coast. You’ll then drive to the resort town of Noosa Heads via Maryborough, Gympie and Cooroy, where you’ll spend the next few days. Take some time to surf, sunbathe on beautiful beaches, try a spot of paddle boarding, shop in boutiques, explore Noosa National Park, and dine at gourmet restaurants.

Days 11-12

Montville

Travel south to Montville, known as the Creative Heart of the Sunshine Coast. This characterful town has a variety of art galleries, craft shops and fashion boutiques to explore, as well as Kondalilla National Park, home to picturesque walks and stunning waterfalls – the perfect place for a picnic.
