Overview
This two week self-drive tour of eastern Australia takes you on incredible exploration of the stunning beaches and beautiful shorelines. Starting in Australia’s third largest city, Brisbane, you’ll get the chance to take in the best sights of this metropolis before heading off along the coast of Queensland.
You’ll head to historic towns like Rainbow Beach and Maryborough to get a glimpse into the past and present of Australian life. Travel off shore to the beautiful Fraser Island before returning to the mainland for a trip to the incredible surf beach at Noosa. This is a fantastic way to experience the variety and beauty of the beaches of the Australian east coast.

Days 1-2
Brisbane
Today you’ll arrive into Brisbane where you’ll spend two nights at the Novotel Brisbane. Here you’ll be in proximity to all the amazing attractions of the city.
Overnight: Novotel Brisbane
Days 3-5
Rainbow Beach
Today you’ll pick up your hire car and leave Brisbane along the Bruce Highway. You’ll be driving to the Sunshine Coast, passing the Glasshouse Mountains and Steve Irwin Way. You’ll then continue onwards to Gympie before you arrive at the beautiful Rainbow Beach – here you’ll stay for three nights.
Explore the area and get to know the best of what Rainbow Beach has to offer – you’ll find soft sand, perfect waves and wonderful national parks nearby.

Days 6-7
Hervey Bay
On day 6 you’ll travel to Hervey Bay to spend the next two nights. Hervey Bay is a fantastic spot for whale watching as thousands of humpback whales migrate here from the middle to the end of the year. You’ll have plenty of time here to explore at your own pace with opportunities for snorkelling, kayaking and game fishing.

Days 8-9
Fraser Island
In the morning of day 8 you’ll pick up a four-wheel drive and make your way to River Heads where you’ll catch the 50 minute ferry ride to Fraser Island. It is the largest sand island on earth and a real natural haven that’s perfect for explorers and lovers of great scenery. You’ll stay here for two nights, where you’ll have plenty of time to take in all the best sights making the most of your 4WD.

Days 10-11
Maryborough
On the morning of day 10 you’ll return to the mainland by ferry where you’ll drop off your 4WD and pick up your hire car. You’ll drive to the historic town of Maryborough. Here you’ll spend two nights exploring one of the oldest cities on the eastern coast, dating back to 1847. You can enjoy your time here visiting the town’s attractions including the Town Hall and the Old Fire Station.

Days 12-14
Noosa
On the day 12 you’ll travel along the Sunshine Coast to the seaside town of Noosa, a haven of stunning beaches and incredible year-round surfing conditions. You’ll spend three nights here making use of the fine sand and sampling the restaurants and bars. Go for a walk at Noosa Heads or head out onto the waves for scuba diving, snorkelling and a full range of watersports.

Day 15
Depart from Brisbane
On day 15 you’ll check out from your hotel and then drive to the airport at Brisbane where you’ll begin your journey home.
