Details

Day 1

Darwin to Kakadu National Park (210km)

Depart Darwin and head for the Kakadu National Park. The scenery on route is dramatic and colourful with bird life, wet lands and high escarpments.

Day 2

Kakadu National Park

Today, visit Kakadu National Park. It’s a living cultural landscape, home to Aboriginal people for more than 65,000 years. It is the largest national park in Australia, that’s nearly half the size of Switzerland!

Day 3

Kakadu National Park to Katherine (310km)

Leave Kakadu and head south on the Kakadu Highway towards Pine Creek, travelling south to Katherine. The Katherine region is where the outback meets the tropics, adventure meets relaxation and the outdoors meets ancient culture.

Day 4

Katherine to Tennant Creek (673km)

We suggest an early start for the long drive today. Travel through Daly Waters and Newcastle Waters on this journey. Break your journey at Tennant Creek, known for its million-acre cattle stations, iconic rock formations and gold mining heritage.

Day 5

Tennant Creek to Alice Springs (508km)

Today, depart Tennant Creek and continue south towards the heart of the Red Centre, Alice Springs. In the heart of Australia lies Alice Springs, surrounded by red dirt and hauntingly beautiful mountain ranges. A great base for exploring the natural wonders of the Northern Territory’s outback (we recommend exploring Uluru).

Day 6

Alice Springs to Ayers Rock (463km)

Depart Alice Springs and travel south. We recommend a tour out to the Rock, driving slowly around it before heading to “Sunset Strip” to experience the famous Uluru sunset.

Day 7

Ayers Rock

Today is free for you to explore Alice Springs – visit the Old Telegraph Station, the Aviation Museum, and the original Royal Flying Doctor Service.

Day 8

Ayers Rock

Your car will be booked until the following day, and you will need to drop it off at the city or airport by the same time it was picked up on day 1 to avoid any additional charges.

  • Car hire
  • Accommodation on a bed & breakfast basis

What’s Not Included
