Details
Day 1
Adelaide to Wilpena Pound (460km)
Once you’ve collected your 4WD vehicle you will journey north along the Princes Highway, passing Port Pirie and turning just before Port Augusta - the Crossroads of Australia. You’ll then arrive in Quorn, renowned for the Pichi Richi Railway – a heritage steam train journey to Port Augusta – before visiting the Yourambulla Caves to marvel at Aboriginal art. You’ll soon arrive in Wilpena Pound, located in the heart of the Flinders Ranges National Park. In the afternoon you’ll have the opportunity to hop on a 20 minute scenic flight above the park, giving you incredible views of the towering landscapes.
Day 2
Wilpena Pound
Today you will embark on a half day 4WD guided tour to one of the park’s most remarkable formations, learning about its fascinating history or geology along the way.
Day 3
Clare Valley (307km)
On day three you will depart Wilpena Pound and spend the day in the Clare Valley wine region - a beautiful area nestled in the Mount Lofty Ranges, with the small town of Clare nearby. We’d recommend journeying to the historical towns of Burra and Kapunda, as well as taking a visit to the oldest winery in the region – the Sevenhill Cellars was established in 1851 by the Jesuits.
Day 4
Adelaide (142km)
Today you will depart Clare Valley and return to Adelaide.
Your car is booked until the following day. You must return the car at the city or airport by the same time it was picked up on day one, or you’ll be given an additional charge.
