Brisbane to Montville (100km)
After you’ve collected your car you’ll drive along the Bruce Highway to the Glass House Mountains National Park. Home to quirky coffee shops, art galleries and vineyards. Enjoy the natural wonderland of Kondalilla National Park, or simply relax and soak up the town’s beauty.
Montville to Rainbow Beach (188km)
Experience the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, and take in the breath-taking scenery – from lush rainforests to picturesque waterfalls. Then, drive north towards Rainbow Beach, known for its sand cliffs, a great place those who fancy leisure activities.
Head across the Noosa River bound for the Cooloola National Park to Fraser Island, where you’ll enjoy an included tour of the world’s largest sand island. Discover the natural beauty with a guided rainforest walk through Central Station. Spend your afternoon swimming at Lake McKenzie for a refreshing swim. Navigate your way back through the ‘beach highway’ and don’t forget to stop for an afternoon tea on the beach.
Enjoy a half day drive through some of the best beaches in Australia, with an exclusive drive to the Lighthouse at Double Island Point – a place with astonishing 360-degree views across the Pacific Ocean.
Rainbow Beach to Agnes Water (322km)
Today, travel north towards Agnes Water through Bundaberg, well known for its Bundaberg Rum. Arrive into Agnes Water in late afternoon. The evening is at your leisure, so enjoy the pristine beaches or take a sunset kayak tour – if lucky, you may spot a dolphin or two!
Agnes Water to Rockhampton (225km)
The morning is free for you to explore, so take advantage and visit the Eurimbula National Park, before continuing to head north through Calliope and Gladstone. Arrive in Rockhampton and enjoy an afrernoon picnic in the Rockhampton Botanic Gardens.
Rockhampton to Airlie Beach (481km)
Depart Rockhampton, and travel north towards Mackay. Explore the Cape Hillsborough National Park, which includes beaches, volcanic rock formations and the rainforest. Continue your journey to Airlie Beach, vibrant hub with a tropical atmosphere.
Spend the day at your leisure. Discover restaurants which offer fresh seafood, shop the markets and boutiques or discover Conway National Park, full of panoramic lookouts and numerous walking trails.
Airlie Beach to Townsville (273km)
Travel north towards Townsville, and make a stop at Bowen, a beautiful country town rich in diversity of local produce and seafood. Or visit the Great Barrier Reef Wonderland, the world’s largest coral reef aquarium.
Townsville to Mt Surprise (Undara National Park – 418km)
Today, leave early in the morning and make your way towards Undara National Park, a place where you can explore wilderness and ancient lava tubes. In the evening, enjoy a campfire activity organised by a Savannah Guide.
Undara Lava Tubes
Enjoy a tour of Undara Lava Tubes, guided by highly skilled Savannah Guides. These lava tube formations are one of the longest lava tube systems in the world. Take part in an evening Wildlife at Sunset Tour.
Mt Surprise to Mission Beach (276km)
Travel east on the Kennedy Highway towards Innot Hot Springs, natural mineral springs. Continue through Ravenshoe, the highest town in Queensland. Then, make your way towards Mission Beach via the Bruce highway.
This is your day at leisure, with plenty to do. Mission Beach is a glorious beachside area with unique attractions, from horse riding, snorkelling, white water rafting to parachuting and rainforest walking, the opportunities to explore are endless.
Mission Beach to Port Douglas (204km)
Depart Mission Beach for Port Douglas via the Bruce Highway. Drive through Mena Creek and visit Paronella Park, where you can take a 45-minute guided walk during the day or night. Then, travel through Cairns, Queensland’s tropical north, famous for the Great Barrier Reef. Continue driving towards Port Douglas, “where rainforests meet the reef”.
Another day at your leisure. A region full of wildlife, rainforests, shopping, dining and culture; the activities are endless.
Port Douglas to Cairns (67km)
Head south along the coast, and experience the magical scenery of Australia. Make a stop at the resort of Palm Cove or detour to Kuranda, a village in the rainforest, only 25km northwest of Cairns.
