Details
Day 1
Broome to Mt Hart (450km)
Once you’ve collected your 4WD vehicle, you will depart Broome and follow the Great Northern Highway via Derby, the first historical town to be occupied in the Kimberley region. You’ll then continue east from Derby on the Gibb River Road, soon arriving in the King Leopold Range Conservation Park to visit Mt Hart and explore the majestic gorges and take a dip in the natural pools.
Day 2
Mt Elizabeth Station (247km)
Depart Mt Hart and journey off road along the Gibb River Road, stopping at Galvans Gorge and Barnett Gorge to take in their wild beauty. You’ll then continue to Mt Elizabeth Station, a working Kimberley cattle station with stunning gorges, hiking and swimming areas, and great fishing. There are also multiple rock art sites that can be seen on an Aboriginal guided tour.
Day 3
El Questro (315km)
Today you will continue along the Gibb River Road, driving past Home Valley before finishing your drive at El Questro, a wonderful wilderness park. Located on the eastern perimeter of the Kimberley region and coming at a whopping million acres in size, this lovely area is full of gushing waterfalls and rugged landscapes.

El Questro
The day will be free for you to explore the park.
Day 5
Kununurra (80km)
Today you will journey to Kununurra, a lively provincial town known as the hub of the East Kimberley. In the afternoon you will venture to Kelly’s Knob Lookout to see a spectacular sunset.
Day 6
Katherine (514km)
Journey to the state border and stop at Australia’s second largest man-made reservoir, Lake Argyle. You’ll then continue along the Victoria Highway, passing the small town of Timber Creek and journeying through Gregory National Park’s rugged sceneries before arriving in Katherine, a naturally beautiful town.
Days 7 - 8
Kakadu National Park (310km)
In the morning of day 7 you’ll enjoy a scenic cruise along the striking Katherine Gorge (at own expense), before travelling north to Pine Creek and then on to the Kakadu Highway. You’ll soon arrive in Kakadu National Park, a luscious park with dramatic waterfalls and brilliant wildlife. Be sure to visit the Bowali Visitor Centre, and on day 8 your whole day is free to explore the area. There’s some great options here, including a cruise along Yellow Waters Billabong to spot colourful birds and elusive crocodiles (at own expense), or visiting the Aboriginal art sites of Ubirr Rock and Nourlangie Rock.
Day 9
Darwin (210km)
Today you will leave Kakadu via the Arnhem Highway, stopping at the famous pub Bark Hut to try out the delicious food and see Jack the Buffalo. In the afternoon you’ll hop on a fun cruise along the Adelaide River to see the jumping crocodiles, or stop at Window on the Wetlands Visitor Centre.
Your car is booked until the following day, and will need to be dropped off at the city or airport by the same time as it was picked up on day one, or you will be given an extra charge.
