If you’d like to try something different, this is a great choice.  Laid back Port Douglas is a tropical paradise and your starting point on this tour. You’ll cruise sedately along pristine rivers, through the ancient rainforests in Daintree National Park. You’ll lose yourself on deserted beaches at Cape Tribulation and see one of the seven wonders of the world – the incredible Great Barrier Reef. Scenery is high on the agenda on this short break, with incredible views to be enjoyed on the Kuranda Scenic Railway. You’ll also have lots of opportunities to soak up some Aussie culture, shop for art and crafts and see indigenous wildlife (AA).

Day 1

Cairns - Port Douglas

Take time to explore on your first day. On arrival at Cairns Airport you’ll be whisked away to your resort in Port Douglas (flights anytime). Driving north from Cairns, you’ll follow the Captain Cook Highway, with scenic views and spectacular beaches en route. After checking into your superior hotel – your home for two nights, the rest of the day is yours to relax or explore the tropical paradise of Port Douglas. Stroll through the friendly village or if time permits, relax a while on Four Mile Beach.

Day 2

Cape Tribulation & Daintree

Today you will enjoy a cruise on the Daintree River and enjoy views to the Coral Sea from Alexandra lookout. Before sitting down to a delicious lunch, you’ll work up an appetite on a short walk through an enchanting forest creek. Sink your toes into the sand on a beach walk at Cape Tribulation before visiting the Mossman Gorge Gateway Centre for a local presentation by the Kuku Yalanji people. Your guide will share all their knowledge of this delightful region, on a walk in Mossman Gorge.

Day 3:

Great Barrier Reef - Cairns

This is your bucket-list adventure day. For one of the best lifetime experiences, you’ll be cruising to an underwater paradise of kaleidoscopic colour. On this Outer Great Barrier Reef cruise, you’ll be met with lots of activity at Agincourt Reef. Dive and snorkel to see all the brilliance close up. Or, if you prefer to stay dry, you can still witness the stunning reef from the comfort of a Quicksilver semi-submersible craft. You’ll enjoy a delicious buffet lunch before heading to your hotel in Cairns for the next three nights.

Day 4

Kuranda

You can expect an amazing experience journeying on board the Kuranda Scenic Railway. Travelling on one of the world’s most scenic rail routes, you’ll go through hand-hewn tunnels and across bridges that span impressive gorges. On arrival at pretty Kuranda village of Kuranda, there will be time for you to discover at leisure the ‘village in the rainforest’. Why not explore the Heritage Markets and buy colourful local arts and crafts? Later you’ll board the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway and travel high above the Barron Gorge National Park through some of the world’s oldest rainforest, before heading back to Cairns for the night.

Day 5

Cairns

As the end of your tour is approaching, today is the perfect opportunity to relax and enjoy your surroundings. To see more of Cairns, why not check out some of the many hidden gems, like Cairns Wildlife Dome and Cairns Zoo or take a wonder through the Cairn’s colourful Night Markets to bag some souvenirs?

Day 6

Cairns

Enjoy breakfast on your last day and say fond farewells to your Driver Guide and fellow travellers. You’ll be transferred to Cairns Airport for your onward flight (flights anytime) or continue your road trip, perhaps heading south to Brisbane along the Queensland Coast.
