How to get around Australia

We are here to help and guide you when planning your Australia holiday, maximising your time experiencing everything Australia has to offer for the duration of your trip. One thing that we urge you to consider is to stop off for at least 2 nights in each place, ideally more and exploring in bite size chunks, the hidden gems and secrets that await you in and around each port of call. Arriving at a place at night and setting off, after breakfast, the next day is not really seeing anything. Allow yourself time to enjoy the surrounds. We are privileged to have travelled throughout Australia so good advice and help is at hand when booking your Australia holiday with Australian Sky.

Escorted Tours

For those of you who enjoy the company of likeminded other travellers our range of escorted coach tours are ideal. You are assured to see some of Australia’s great sights, visiting many diverse landscapes and cities with additional day trips/excursions thrown in, to add to your enjoyment. We love our escorted tours for their organised and informed structure, you have an excellent local guide throughout and won’t miss a thing. We have a huge range of tours available depending on the time you have and where you would like to visit.

Private escorted flying safari’s

An alternative to driving through the stunning scenery and sights is to see them from above, offering a completely different perspective to the landscape. Our private flying safaris are hand-made to suit your needs. We also offer a number of small group escorted flying safaris. Warning, flying safaris become addictive, we love them because they are so different.

DIY Flying between destinations

To save on time many people choose to stay in a small section of places and fly between them on the many airlines that fly internally in Australia. This allows you time to see some of the iconic sights of Australia in a shorter time period, or at all (some places would take days to get to). We like this option as you are basing yourself in a handful of locations and exploring from them with day trips. A great way to really live and breathe local Australia.

General train travel in Australia is not usually what visitors will do. But there are 2 world renowned train journeys that are well wort consideration. The Indian Pacific runs from Sydney to Perth, with a stop/join point in Adelaide and showcases glorious outback scenery. The Ghan runs between Darwin and Adelaide through the outback and includes the much-coveted Red Centre with visits to Uluru. We think either of these incredible train journeys enhances your trip to Australia and we highly recommend either.

For many, the lure of the great open road beckons and self driving in Australia is made easier in part because many roads are empty of traffic and they drive on the left-hand side, perfect for UK and Ire customers. Due to the vast distances in Australia we offer itineraries that can be managed within your time frame, with several excellent stopping points and accommodation booked throughout your journey. The beauty of self driving is you get to choose where to go and when to stop every day en route to your end point. Seek out those hidden bays or off the beaten track hideaways. Turn left instead if right and adventure on. We are big fans of self drives and look forward to helping you create your next self drive Australia holiday.

For those of you that still harker back to your backpacking days, where absolute freedom is the mantra, we offer excellent quality motorhomes for as long as you wish. You can really venture out to remote scenic places, there are some stunning camping grounds all over Australia in the most enviable locations, park up, put your chair up and drink a cool Aussie wine watching the world go by.

Whatever mode of transport you decide to take (why not mix it up) we are keen to ensure that you are able to see and do the things you hope for. We have plenty of ideas and would love to chat with you about your holiday plans to Australia so give us a call. There is no better time to visit Australia than now.
